I am kinda "old school" gamer and i like old games. Especially Counter-strike. Kids of this "new time" in which we living like new games like COD, Battlefield and other good looking graphic games. So, here is my very cheap configuration to satisfy your child.
AM3+ CPU Support, mATX, DDR3 (16GB max), 10 x USB 2, 4 x SATA2, RAID, DVI, VGA
This one motherboard i think is cheap. Of course you can get it 2nd hand even cheaper :)
PROCESSOR
( most motherboards come with processor but if don't you can buy Intel dual core/quad core )
You will need some RAM ( best is 4GB )
Hard Drive ( 500 GB is good choice )
CD/DVD
VIDEO CARD - GeForce 210
Cables for all this parts
... and of course Case which is cheap also.
All this things should cost you 300 dollars even less.
